violent seas

violent seas

i’m trapped in the bowels of a sinking ship…
at first her wooden hull creaks loudly.
and then she cracks letting the sea’s dark green water in.

faster and faster she sinks.
falling into unknown gloomy depths.
trapped in my icy watery tomb it’s calm.

well beneath the violence of the sea;
i swim in silence through the watery darkness.
flickering lights in the distance.

mounted above your dragon’s fiery billows,
your bright blue eyes shine confidently in the flickering flames.
violent uncoiling of your reptile rips the hull apart in a thunderous crack.
i watch as you fly away out of the ship’s wreckage and away forever.

now as i drift into the bottomless darkness i’ve nothing left
to hold onto. neither rope, chain nor wooden plank.
my limbs splay, my fingers and toes claw;
gripping only a frightening cold emptiness. alone i fall.
